Saw someone asking for a map of trails accessible by public transit the other day. I made one for my personal use a couple years ago. Here's an updated version with 2026 routes, if anyone's interested. I keep it on my phone and use it all the time. There's links to the actual timetables once you've decided where you want to go. Pls be respectful of trails during mud season. Pearl street was blocked off last night at around 7:50pm and there were a ton of responders on the scene. Does anyone know what happened? I was hoping to see a news story but im not finding anything on it. My curiosity is piqued!

Ex figure skater here who was unfortunately spoiled by nearly empty freestyles. Does anyone have any recommendations for the best arenas/times to skate with not a ton of people on the ice?

With the nice(ish) weather tomorrow i was hoping to bike down on the bike path. Has anyone been down there recently? Is it still covered in snow past the skate park?

Friday morning's wintry mix is behind us and the weekend is swinging into the 50s. Saturday will be gusty and showery but Sunday dries out with some sun, and early next week could flirt with 60. Winter creeps back Wednesday. Today's edition covers Burlington's Town Meeting Day results, where voters approved the police and fire tax increase, a $140.8M school budget, and a charter change for the racial equity office. City Council incumbents held in both contested races, keeping the Democratic majority at seven seats and protecting Mayor Mulvaney-Stanak's veto. Statewide, 82% of school budgets passed but the equity gap between high and low spending districts keeps widening. Nearly 20 Vermont towns weighed local option taxes with mixed results, Bristol is earmarking new revenue for climate resilience after FEMA denied flood recovery funding. Colchester's DRB approved an $8M waterfront hotel on Malletts Bay and residents backed by the Vermont Natural Resources Council are lawyering up to appeal. Vermont's congressional delegation blasted the strikes on Iran. A new rhythm arcade opened on College Street. And Adam Silverman's Vermont photography has built a 42,000 person following. And way more stories in the full newsletter. [Give it a full read here.](https://www.btownbrief.com/p/friday-march-6th) Tonight is loaded: Mother of All Sales on Church St, the By a Thread fiber arts opening at SEABA with live bluegrass, DJ Cheetatah at Foam, Slocan Ramblers at UVM, Ashley Gavin waitlist at VT Comedy Club, and Hot Priest sketch comedy. Saturday brings Carnevale at the Essex, Casino Night in Winooski, Cookies and Brews at Burlington Beer Co, Sugar on Snow in Shelburne, and a community meal on North Ave. Sunday is International Women's Day with the Women's Festival of Crafts, a Taylor Swift brunch in Winooski, the WOKO giant flea market, and an Irish singalong at Rí Rá. Plus way more to pick from in the full events calendar. We go deeper on all of it in the full edition, with more stories and way more events with hyperlinks you need. Plus a 60 second, 5 question quiz to test if you were paying attention. Hey all, looking for recommendations for an optometrist in the Burlington/Winooski area that accepts Medicaid and is taking new patients. Any experiences (good or bad) with local practices welcome. Thanks!

Thank you for being part of a singularly phenomenal movie experience. One of the top 3 theater movies of my entire life. To everyone else, check out a film at Partizan - it was a great time.

Wife and I are thinking about visiting the area for a 3 to 4 night stay this summer. Won't be too long after our wedding. Not a "honeymoon" but would like it be an enjoyable and romantic trip. We are not "all inclusive" or "sit by the pool" or "spa" vacation types. I stead, an ideal vacation would be exploring towns and small cities, antiques, historical sites or museums, boats/boating, hiking but nothing crazy, trying restaurants, cafes etc. Would there be enough stuff like this in the area to do if we planned it out? Other areas within a reasonable drive? We looked at and like The Blind Tiger hotel.

Hi! I’m visiting Burlington in April for the first time, and as a hat collector, I’m wondering what are some cool stores for hats? For hats, I’m talking about flat brim rope hat vibes, like you see at skate shops or breweries, corduroy, cotton, nylon, I think you get the idea!

Someone just hit my car in a parking lot (cue regular subreddit discussion about how Vermonters don’t know how to drive). Luckily, the person was honest and is willing to pay/go through insurance if necessary. I need to get an estimate from a body shop for how much this will cost to repair to let the other driver know what they owe me. Anyone have any good experiences with local body shops? Thanks neighbors!!

Hey. Usually pickup a few items at King Arthur when I'm down in the upper valley but it's been awhile and don't have time to have anything shipped. Besides City, Healthy Living, etc, is there another store in the area that might have a good set of baking ingredients? Looking specifically for SAF yeast and/or diastatic malt powder, couple other related things

Hi neighbors! I'm looking to start a local women's group and wanted to see if there's interest in our community before getting things off the ground. Let's be honest — things are a little rough right now. The world feels heavy, the news is exhausting, and sometimes you just need your people around you. The idea is simple — a welcoming, judgment-free space where like-minded women can come together to connect, vent, socialize, and make a difference. Think part girls' night, part activism — dinner parties, wine, postcard writing, volunteering, and everything in between. Community and connection - the best form of resistance! 💕 This club is open to all like-minded women, including cisgender, transgender, and gender-diverse individuals. This is an intersectional, inclusive space welcoming women of all backgrounds, races and identities All are welcome here. If this sounds like your kind of thing, I'd love to hear from you! No commitment yet — just want to know if there's interest in the community. 📧 Reach out to Lindsey M at [wokewomenssocialclub@gmail.com](mailto:wokewomenssocialclub@gmail.com) Let's build something great together! — Lindsey (Ignore the username - ugh it’s the horrific one Reddit gave me)

Every morning on I drive on Shelburne Road on my way to work and I see countless cars speeding right past a school bus with the red lights on and I am disgusted by the lack of regard for these children’s lives! Not only is it THE LAW to stop for a school bus with red lights flashing, it t also protects children from getting run over in case any of you ignorant selfish buttheads didn’t know this already. Statistically in the US there are around 6 to 10 school children killed while exiting and entering their own school buses EVERY YEAR. Even ONE is too many!!! Please don’t be in such a hurry to get somewhere that you are willing to risk running over, maiming, or possibly killing someone’s child. Just stop. Please just stop.

Is anyone willing to help a dude out? I have a simple (I think) 3d print. I submitted to Fletcher library a while ago and never heard back. The print is small, I am of course willing to pay. It's a new latch for a black diamond head lamp. EDIT: Link to the print file https://www.printables.com/model/207114-black-diamond-storm-400-led-headlamp-latch-replace

What is the current rules on openly drinking in our parks ? I was again harassed/threatened to fight by a drunk at the park without any provocation . It’s not even spring and the drinking, drugs and littering are back. Burlington Police dept please address this unchecked debauchery sooner than later.

Update! I have gotten my shamrock shake. All is good in the world. I have seen other comments about different types of shamrock shakes around. What are any place that you know of that are doing a minty milkshake for St. Patrick’s day! I think it’s time to do a show down of shakes! I have been too a couple of McDonald’s around town and I have not found any place that is serving Shamrock Shakes right now! Has anyone gotten a shamrock shake this season and I’m just missing them???? Someone help me! 😵

Hi everyone, I’m looking for horseback riding lessons in Chittenden County. I have intermediate riding experience but haven’t been out in a while besides a few trail rides, so I’m just looking to start out having fun and getting back into it. If you know of any instructors, barns, or programs that offer lessons for someone like me, I’d love any recommendations! Thanks so much!

So my partner and I are getting away from the baby and taking a trip to one of the most beautiful cities I’ve been to back in 2018, Burlington. When I was there last I was a poor college kid and now coming back and want to really treat them with something nice. So I’m looking for top restaurants, cocktails, outdoor things to do, and any other beautiful romantic things you all might have. Edit: dang yall are helpful. I live in Knoxville and they usually are smart asses with these post.

I’m doing a short film with a series of shorts along with it. If anyone has a pet toad that they would like to have cameo in one of the shorts. You would absolutely be welcome to supervise, he’s mostly just going to sit on a car seat.

Hey ya’all! Just wanted to put out there to be careful of a pothole on Spring St. It is right before that speed bump near IAA going towards Manhattan Dr. I hit it yesterday (because it was filled with water and couldn’t see it) and I seriously thought I busted a wheel off. Just wanted to warn others! P.S- This is also a reminder to wash your dang car! Thank you and have a lovely day!

are just a really big we don't give a f***. Every time I drive by that 24/7 burning flame decoration thing it bugs me. I know it amounts to nothing, but it's a real in your face sort of thing to just burn the gas as decoration around the clock. I guess it goes well with the Escalades pulled up out front.

Ever since I was a child, my dream car has been a minivan…but alas it has yet to become a reality. My current car is on its last legs, so I’m imagining I’ll be in the market very soon for a vehicle. This time I want to make the minivan happen. Does anyone out there have one they’re looking to sell? Have a local car dealership you recommend? Have you purchased a rust-free vehicle from Florida and have tips? Any leads, tips, suggestions, etc to help make my dream a reality would be greatly appreciated :)

I'm a 40/m who is struggling with life after divorce. Everything sucks, if you really want to know what im dealing with check out my post history. The past two years of my life have been a nightmare. It seems like all the local groups are focused on providing support for parents. As a single male it's really hard to find any new community. It's been extremely difficult to find anybody who has gone through something like I am dealing with. I am happy that the Dad Guild exists but honestly it would make me feel even worse having to be around all these people getting support for their families when I have nothing. I live alone. I have one family member that lives nearby, who I have to help take care of. I have no peers, no real friends just acquaintances. My social network collapsed and my career has failed me, I am starting over from zero.

I have a pair of Advent Graduates that have been sitting in their original box for 30 some years and I want to put them back in service, but the foam around the woofers has completely disintegrated. I know it's a relatively easy DIY project, and I probably should have done it 5 years ago when I had all the time in the world. But I didn't, and like, things have changed man. Happy to pay someone for materials and time to make them sing again.

Toured the woolen mill and liked it generally. Basically all of the reviews that are negative seem to be super old, and the only thing consistently negative is people complaining about thin walls/heat being expensive, neither being particularly dealbreaking to me. Some comments are about the rooms being overpriced but they seem very competetive with the market at the moment from what ive been looking at. I was wondering if anyone here had more recent experiences positive or negative to give some insight on what its like living there
