I’m looking for any information about an attack that took place around four o’clock this Tuesday afternoon. There was a white women probably in her 40’s or 50’s walking the trail with her 10 ish year old son and they had a light brown pitbull with them off leash. Dogs are required to be leashed on this trail. The dog viciously attacked my dog and myself. My dog received life ending injuries and I was scratched in the face. I am pleading with the community to share any information regarding this incident. We were on the trail at the Woodside trail area just off college parkway near St. Mikes.

So there this guy that comes to Oakledge park like everyday on a bike. He's white with a bald head and normally wears a blue tank top. He doesn't appear to homeless. But he's always talking to himself quite loudly. And he gives off the vibe that he might start harassing someone. Like for instance today he was haphazardly throwing rocks from a ledge almost hitting sunbathers with them. He always tends to stay in the area right in front of the beach, aimlessly walking around.

Hello, I'm a dad living in Brooklyn NY, looking for a place to spend a long weekend writing and recording music in Vermont. I'm hoping to find a home I could rent that has a piano (real, not digital) for 3-4 nights in August. I appreciate any leads. Thanks! 🎹❤️

I got stuck in gridlock (lol) driving past the davis center and student housing on my way home from work. There was a long line on the circular drive in front of the Davis center with a tent set up outside.

Great spot for a couple. Dishwasher and laundry within unit. Off street parking, 2nd floor deck, convenience of being in the heart of downtown with the perk of being on a quiet dead end street.

I don't have the budget to get a full-body massage often, but have frequent neck muscle tension and would love to find someone who offers chair massages. Any recommendations? Also, I attended massage school and have my own chair and table; if you have some training and are interested in trades, DM me with a bit of information. I'm north of Burlington.

Burlington is sorting through 15 applicants who want to be the city’s next chief of police and will use a 12-person hiring committee to pick the winning candidate, officials announced on Monday. The International Association of Chiefs of Police will help whittle the group down to five candidates before the hiring committee, which includes representatives from city government, city council, the police commission and the community, chooses two finalists. Interviews are expected to happen in July and August. … The committee includes two Burlington city councilors, Buddy Singh (D-South District) and Melo Grant (P-Central District), both of whom serve on the Public Safety Committee. Grant previously chaired the committee before she was ousted and replaced by Singh earlier this year. Former city council president and current police commissioner Karen Paul and police commission chair Robert Depper will also serve on the committee. Also part of the group: the mayor’s deputy chief of staff Jen Monroe Zakaras; Community & Economic Development Office head Kara Alnasrawi; and Tiffanie Katsuva, who leads the Trusted Community Voices program in the Office of Racial Equity, Inclusion and Belonging. The head of the Burlington police union, Officer Padric Hartnett, will have a seat at the table, as will Colby Delaire, who represents the city’s major municipal employee union. Youth support nonprofit King Street Center’s executive director Shabnam Nolan and Howard Center CEO Sandy McGuire will participate in the hiring process, as will Mark Bouchett, co-owner of household goods store Homeport and a Church Street Marketplace commissioner.

I cannot say enough good things about the North Star Community Hall. We flew in on a wing and a prayer (and zero dancing skill) and the talented u/coldnight3 and his wife met us on that same day, then AGAIN over the weekend, and got us across the finish line in time. The North Star Community Hall is AWESOME, beautiful, and they've got a ton of interesting dance and music classes (and even a broadsword fighting group??). I just wanted to follow up on my [previous post](https://www.reddit.com/r/burlington/s/UWgNWK23ee) because I got SEVERAL options and the Burlington community is truly amazing. We had so much fun, nailed our first dance, and made some new friends too. If you are looking for something to do, check out the North Star Community Hall. I cannot imagine NOT making new friends there.

Over the Fourth of July weekend, a friend and I stopped by Three Needs around 1:00 a.m. We ordered drinks and planned to grab some pizza before heading home. As we were leaving, my friend told me that the bartender had called him a “Nazi” and a “racist” because of the shirt he was wearing. It was simply a black shirt that said “Happy 250 Years” with an American flag behind the text. I turned around to ask why she felt that way. Before I could even finish speaking, she immediately became confrontational. I asked how his shirt made him a racist or a Nazi, especially considering he’s friends with me, a Hispanic male. Instead of having a conversation, she told me to leave, took the beer that I had already paid for, and refused to let me finish it. She then called over a bouncer and, from my perspective, falsely told him that I had said, “You don’t have any colored friends.” I never made that statement and immediately told the bouncer it wasn’t true. The one positive part of the experience was the bouncer. He remained calm, listened to both sides, and professionally de-escalated the situation. I handed him my beer and left peacefully. It’s unfortunate because the rest of our Fourth of July was great, and this was a disappointing way to end the night. I used to enjoy going to Three Needs, but after being treated this way and seeing my friend labeled with such serious accusations over a T-shirt, I won’t be returning. I hope management takes the time to look into what happened that night, because no customer should be treated this way for simply asking a question or wearing a shirt celebrating the Fourth of July. After we left and were standing outside, several other customers came over to us and apologized for what had happened. They also told us that, in their experience, this bartender has a reputation for treating customers this way. Whether that’s accurate is for management to determine, but based on my own experience that night, I was extremely disappointed.

Honestly been holding this back for a while. WHY THE F\*CK do people genuinely feel like the radio bean, more importantly Lee Anderson, is deserving of all the outpouring of support. Anyone reading this remove yourself from the mindset of Lee is my friend, if that is you pretned he isn't. How/why do people support people not getting paid on time/appropriately for years. NOTHING being cleaned, only getting a passing health inspection by luck and an EXTREMELY bad walk through not noticing multiple non functioning critical pieces ie: WORKING HOT WATER, NO FOOD TO SERVE PATEONS, legally required by law in bars BTW last i knew. Bands checks bounce for months, they keep coming back, MASSIVE donations off the books from folks with no real transparency from Lee where money goes. I am not a disgruntled ex-employee, I cherished the community there for many years but yall supporting this Peter pan circus shit is crazy; no accountability has been held for this dude floundering for years let him fail. Could have started a better venue with all the money people have given him and its really depressing. I dont think I could just do it, I know there is so many moving parts and nuance but the dude took ppe grants in 202 to not buy almost any real ppe, take a month long trip to Joshua tree to "become a climber" while his employees served take out food literally for free (they barely if at all paid during this time, the food was not free) and he got to just disapear. I could go on and on. But really why arent all these doners/ funders just starting a new space that has nothing to do with the base problem, Lee Anderson who is more interested in running a circus than a business.

Happy Monday, Burlington! The week starts on the friendly side. Monday stays mostly dry with more clouds than Sunday and highs in the mid 80s, Tuesday keeps Burlington sunnier than the southern half of the state and lands near 80, and Wednesday is the clear pick of the week, partly sunny and beautiful in the mid 80s. Thursday is when the humidity crashes back in with storm chances rising through the evening and temperatures flirting with 90, so plan your outdoor ambitions early. Simply sharing a person's name and social media account is not considered doxxing, provided the information is already public. Doxxing is defined as the malicious public exposure of private identifying information, such as home addresses, phone numbers, or financial data. I purposefully omitted their easily found addresses, phone numbers, and their failed parent’s info and occupations. All of these “winners” still live at home with their parents. UPDATE: While this post may only have a few hundred upvotes and comments, as of 7/7/26 it has been read over 100,000 times. There's about to be a property opening up on North Ave by the HS & The Sea Caves - as the current tenant, I would strongly advise against anyone taking it. It's a good price and the space is nice but the landlords are manipulative a-holes who will violate your privacy and push reasonable boundaries. At this stage I believe they don't want anyone in the property and really want to sell but are double dipping as they still need the additional income for the renovations they're doing. They will not mention the upcoming sale to tenants but from what I've found out it's hitting the market mid June next year and will be available for rent when I leave in Sept in a few weeks. I wish there was a place to review shoddy landlords in the state but I figured this is the next best thing. For some background, I'm a single tenant with 0 pets and a spotless rental history. I've lived in VT for 10+ years with 3 past landlords that have all called me a great renter. I've never had any issues before - I have a spotless rental record, do most repairs on my own, and rarely complain unless it's something major I can't handle like flooding or a plumbing issue. This space has had a lot of issues that I've worked with the landlords on including a front door that malfunctioned 20+ times and left me locked outside during the winter, a stove that would short circuit and blow everything out in the apt (almost caused a fire the final time it did this), and mold/moisture issues from standing water/leaks in the basement. I've ignored most of these as my only priority is a safe and quiet space, welp they've taken that away too. The 2 landlords are incredibly snarky, disingenuous, and 1 of the 2 intends to steamroll anyone who lives in the space if you ever try to reinforce a singular boundary - maybe this was my fault for letting so many things slide. If you call them out on showing up in your space as a tenant they will attempt to gaslight you and deny any wrong doing. This was particularly aggravating as I have footage of one of their spouses inside of my apt while I was asleep, walking through to get access to another part of the house. You can expect 3-4 visits a week working on superficial fixes in preparation for the sale which they will not disclose to you, random utility vehicles and contractors blocking you in, and as of the last week - multiple hired parties banging and dragging things above your head starting around 6am - all with no notification as it's being done in a "shared space". This inaccurate as I've caught them in my storage section and have two incidents on video of them walking through my apartment (which my attorney advised I hold onto un the event things need to be escalated) but again, you're not going to get any reasonable response from them. It's hard to find good and safe spaces, I don't want anyone to spend all their time and energy securing a space just to get taken advantage of or have to deal with such crappy people. It's been exhausting, I've spoken with 2 separate attorneys and have been advised the violations are things that I could pursue legally (recorded footage of unk male entering the occupied apartment with no warning paired with multiple unnecessary visits violating quiet enjoyment). I don't have the bandwidth to deal with a legal case with everything else going on so I've just decided to leave and warn other potential renters. Be safe out there!

If you’ve spent time in Burlington, you’ll definitely recognize some, maybe all, of the local icons in these two games. Check em out! They were inspired by games like Subway Surfers and Timberman, except Burlington-themed. I’d love feedback before I keep moving down my list and try to build a free little Burlington digital arcade where people can compete with friends and keep their name on the collective-games leaderboard. 10-15 total games in mind. So if you like what I’m doing and want to stay updated be sure to follow my newsletter: https://www.btownbrief.com Maybe even send a small donation and let me know you appreciate where I’m headed and the time spent cooking up the Burlington newsletter and the digital arcade: https://ko-fi.com/btownbrief And the best part imo? It’s all free. No annoying video ads or the “watch this to keep playing” crap. Plus, the games auto-update with snippets from my latest newsletter editions so it gives you a reason to keep coming back (to see the news headlines!) **Church Street Runner** Run down Church Street, dodge obstacles, switch characters, jump, slide, and move left or right. I’ve been trying to pack it with recognizable Burlington details. https://btownbrief.github.io/church-street-runner/ **FILED!** We have the World’s Tallest Filing Cabinet, so naturally I made a game out of it. Stamp through endless paperwork, switch left and right to dodge open drawers, and try not to get buried in Burlington bureaucracy. https://btownbrief.github.io/filed/ They’re not quite finished yet, but they’re getting close. One idea I’m considering for Church Street Runner is optional **Trivia Portals** to run through where you can earn bonus points by answering Burlington or Vermont questions, maybe with some of my local news quiz questions mixed in. **Curious what I’m working on next?? Here’s the list:** **Real or Fake: BTV Headlines** Spot the fake Burlington headline among the real ones. I’m chock full of news headlines after 1.5 years of the BTown Brief newsletter. **Caption This** A local photo gets posted, people submit captions, and people vote on the winner through a Tinder-like card experience. **B-Town Wordle** A local word puzzle using Burlington places, businesses, streets, and Vermont-isms. **Where in Burlington?** See a local photo, guess where it was taken, and get scored by distance. Each wrong guess, the photo zooms out more for you. **Local Trivia Ladder** Burlington and Vermont trivia that gets harder as you go. **Rank What You Know** Rank only the local spots you’ve actually tried through a selection then drag and drop process. Then see how your picks compare with Burlington’s consensus. **Flappy Champ** Guide Champ through sailboat masts over the Burlington waterfront. If you played Flappy Bird, you understand this one. **Tap the Maple** Throw sap spiles into a spinning maple without hitting the others. It’s all about timing. Inspired by the game Knife Hit. Super easy and fun. **Pothole Patrol** Fill Burlington potholes before a Subaru hits them. Inspired by the classic Whack-a-Mole game. **Creemee Drop** Catch and stack falling creemee swirls and build it higher and higher. Avoid the wasp. **Earlier or Later: BTV** Two Burlington events appear. Guess which happened first. **Higher or Lower: BTV** Guess whether the next local stat is higher or lower, like rent, snowfall, UVM enrollment, or creemee prices. See how your guess compares to others. Would love feedback if you had any. Can’t guarantee all the updates, but I can try! The cool part is that the games auto updates with snippets from my latest newsletter editions so it always feels like little fresh. Which of the two current games is more fun? What feels janky? And which game idea should I build next?

Seriously looks like a borderline prison at this point, except it’s designed to keep people out. Such an eyesore, right at the bus depot… imagine that’s your first impression of Burlington when you arrive in town. I don’t know what the State has planned for that building, but it really sucks that such a prime piece of downtown real estate is sitting vacant, especially a building WE own. What is it going to take to get something done down there?
