I primarily shop at Shaws but have unintentionally bought bad produce the past few times I’ve been. Plus it seems like there’s less on their shelves than usual these days.

Noticed this Roomba on steroids at BTV vacuuming along. Since it's so huge I can't help but question if it's also collecting data/spying on us? Did a janitor lose their job for this? Not a very friendly welcome back, imo.

Hello i had an incident with my neighbor the other day i had to call 911 because of threats of violance and threats of him murdering me. I am Physicly and Metnaly Disabbled so i have a bigger fear. I requested records 2 days after the incodent but it wasnt properly fullfilled. The Report from the Officer or Officers was not complete and the Audio recording of him threatening me on my cellphone while talking to Dispatch was not given to me. I wanted that Evidance so i can give it to my landlord so they can take legal action for him breaking his Lease Agreement and for them to either have him removed from the Appartment Complex. I have made 2 Records Requests to the Burling Police Department. I just recently contacted the Command Staff by email to ask for those records agian but i was told by one of them to refill out the records request form i already did. I am not asking for that. I am asking for someone to help me find the audio recording and for them to fill out a report i can use in court to file a Restraining Order and give it as proof of Violating the Lease Agreement for the Landlord. I have looked up some stuff ont he internet and i believe my Rights are being Violated and Evidance may be withheld from me. I saw that i have to give them 5 days to respond and a notice of why the records were not filled out completly and an explination of why i didnt recieve the recording and if the recording was destroyed. I also understand that i can file a complaint with my States Attourney to make them make the Burlington Police Department hand over the request for the Records i requested. Does anyone else know what i can do? I am going to be contacting Legal Aid. I want to contact anyone else i can. This is a Violation of my Rights and I will have to take LEgal Action.

I need to have my water heater replaced. In the past I've used Benoures, but my most recent interaction with their front desk staff and technician was not positive, and I would like to use someone else. Does anyone have a recommendation for a plumber?

Hi all! My organization is having a calcutta fundraiser on September 19th. We still have a few tickets left. It will be a great time, and all proceeds go to KidSafe Collaborative's work to bring together organizations and individuals to prevent and address child abuse and neglect in our community. You do not need to be present to win! [https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/ticketing/2nd-annual-kidcutta-at-spanked-puppy](https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/ticketing/2nd-annual-kidcutta-at-spanked-puppy)

Hey there! Do you or somebody you know have a job that you totally dig? Do you have awesome coworkers, a cool boss, good environment, and/or a fair wage? Are they hiring? I'll be moving back to beloved Burlington soon, and would love to hear if anybody here has a great gig going for them, or one that they'd recommend. If it helps, my skillset strongly includes (but not limited to) serving/bartending, retail, communications/writing, conservation/environmental, and outdoor education. Oh, and I work like a dog! Additionally, if you have a place you would NOT recommend working at, I'd equally appreciate the tip. Thanks for any recommendations!🙏

We are a family of 4 -- all first time skiiers, including our 3 year old and 5 year old. We want to go to Burlington this winter and stay downtown or near one of the ski resorts. We will be there for about 5 days total. We found a good flight deal near the beginning of February - is that a good time to go or will it be too cold for the little ones? Any recommendations on the best ski resorts for beginners?

This sweet foster dog (female, under a year) from Winooski jumped her foster's fence and ran off tonight (Tuesday, 9/8) just before dark. Please call if you see her. She is friendly but is nervous outside especially around loud noises.

Photo included to show which ones I’m specifically looking for ever since I got pregnant two years ago I have not been able to find these anywhere i’ve checked Shaws and market 32 on Shelburne Road. I’ve checked Hannaford’s on Shelburne Road North Avenue and by the mall I’ve checked the Walmart in Williston and I have checked target. They have so many kinds, but this one specifically the only place I’ve been able to find them is online from grocery stores that I don’t think are in this state like they just completely vanished off of all shelves about two years ago are there any stores close by (farthest ill go is Saint Albans, Essex, and Shelburne)

Heads up to my friends in bands playing in New England and to all folks going to metal/punk/hardcore shows in the area. Kevin Sheltra aka KM North on FB and Filthyluckproductions on Instagram has been actively taking photos of bands playing in VT, MA, and probably other places in New England. He spent time in jail for SA of a minor and is a registered offender. You can find the articles about him and his registration by searching his name. He was chased out of the VT heavy music scene years ago, but the scene has a high turnover rate and people might not know who he is. I saw him post photos from RPM fest, and didn’t want any of the bands to collaborate with him on posts without knowing his deal. I also saw that a handful of folks are FB friends with him and/or following him on Instagram. I figured I would give everyone the benefit of the doubt that maybe you didn’t know his deal. Guys like this are WAY too common in our scene. I highly recommend that you don’t work with him. Get this guy tf outta our local music scene by letting people who work with him, venues and promoters know we will not allow a pedo around us and our families.

I have a Zoom meeting while I’m in town and it turns out the place that I’m staying has spotty WiFi. I checked the library website to see if I might be able to use a room there - but apparently they don’t allow private meetings. So: where would you recommend? (I’d prefer free, if possible. And it would be ideal if there was limited background noise mid-afternoon.)

My wife and I have been looking at homes in the area, and a lot of them seem to have something like this in the front yard. Looks a bit like a chimney, but that would be weird to be underground.

Hello burlington! I was walking along the bike path this afternoon and found some lost keys on a bench at one of the workout stations/over looks. i believe it was workout station 3. I’ve attached a photo of the bench (picture of keys not included). going to drop them off at the police station in around an hour, but if you think they could be yours please dm me and we can talk. edit: they were dropped off at the police station around 3pm

Happy Labor Day, Burlington. If you have one outdoor day to spend this week, spend it today. Monday is sunny start to finish with a high in the upper 70s, dew points in the low 50s and no rain at any hour. Tuesday may start with a leftover shower that clears by mid morning, then settles into sun and clouds in the low to mid 70s. Wednesday is the one to plan around, cloudy all morning and then a 70 percent chance of showers in the afternoon with a south wind gusting to 30, and thunderstorms after 8 PM. Thursday flips it, with morning showers giving way to a drier afternoon, before Friday turns sunny and noticeably cooler with highs in the 60s. First taste of fall. [Give the full newsletter a read here.](https://www.btownbrief.com/p/monday-september-7th) In it there's things like the last ever night at Radio Bean on Tuesday, a free Labor Day picnic at Battery Park today, the passeggiata on Church Street Wednesday and opening night of Big Pond Improv Thursday. In the news, 38 affordable apartments opened downtown already full, jury selection in the Eaton trial starts Thursday, South Burlington killed the 100 bed shelter plan, The Other Paper and the Shelburne News got a nonprofit owner, WCAX explains why bars like Radio Bean still cannot get insured, the Vermont GOP's prosecutor candidate says he will resign if he wins, the Miller Center closes September 21 for a net zero renovation, and the state settled a complaint over how it treats immigrant detainees. 171 events and 15 news stories in all. It’s almost impossible to find a spot like this for the price but it was for myself & my daughter who’s off on her own now. So against my better judgement I’m carefully maybe looking to share costs. The space is pretty large, in a very quiet neighborhood, super convenient location to everything, newly renovated, efficient utilities with a W/D, one off street parking space, private bathrooms, small backyard, some gardens space I created, some storage. Near Home Goods, Shaws. One big room is whole top floor, or two small rooms downstairs seems the best split. Gender unimportant probably? Convince me. Must be a mature adult who’s self aware, respectful, honest, clean and cool. I have a 3 yr old 20 lb male Ragdoll cat. IYKYK they are more like a toddler & a puppy with very big personalities. He goes out in the backyard and is a hilarious member of the household. Another pet could work, but really not into barking and the carpets are all new. Open to discussion. Looking for around $1,500 including utilities. EDIT: $1300 during months without AC. It’s cheaper to heat this place than cool it, because most windows open sideways. 🙄 Elect, gas- hot water baseboard heat, on demand hot H2O, gas dryer, WiFi. References required. Hey anything’s possible? Could even be fun. 🤞🏻

Was there around 5pm or a little before, and there was a kid who looked like at most a HS freshman, more likely a middle schooler, who rolled basically full tilt through the Starr Farm playground on one of the illegal electric mini motorcycles while there were many little kids there. He did at least three loops, and on the 3rd seemed to have picked up an old guy who was patiently tailing him on a regular bike. Kudos to that dude, who I hope figures out who his parents are, so someone can put some sense into the kids head before he hurts someone, or someone hurts him (by lap 3 of revving past within reach of my preschooler I was legitimately tempted). Kid was a boy, white, blonde hair, slender build, if anyone has a line to the adults of someone who fits that description.

I’ve been trying to get a few smaller things printed for awhile and would much rather find someone local to work with than have to find a custom fabrication service online. If anyone has experience printing bits for model kits I would love to chat and work something out!

Super chatty and lovey, but had a bit of a dirty coat and seems to struggle cleaning it :( if he (she?) has owners that's perfect, if he's a stray is there a recommended place I can take him to get cleaned up and well cared for? EDIT: we brought her to Queen City and she does have a microchip! Her name is Honey Bunny and we're currently trying to contact her people. If anyone knows about Honey Bunny and can fast track that would be iconic! EDIT 2: FOUND! Her dad was able to contact us via Queen City-- shout out to the cat lounge! They're amazing people for cat lost and finding! Thank you guys for your help! (For the record, she is indeed an indoor cat who just lost her way, she is not one of ONE's outdoors or strays \^.\^ there also shouldn't be any outdoors anyway so let this be a lesson)

Went to the Champlain Valley Fair yesterday. Been going every year for the past decade (except covid) and it's always one of the highlights of the summer. My sensitive stomach cannot handle the century old rides with expired/covered up operating licenses, so the food and exhibits are mainly what I go for. This year's experience left me very disappointed and dissatisfied. It felt like all of a sudden, the price for every single food item had skyrocketed. I knew they were steadily increasing these past few years, but this year was definitely an unexpected leap. For example, the smallest jug of fresh lemonade cost me $10 this year, whereas last year it was only $7. A slice from Rocky's NY Pizza at the grandstand cost $6, whereas last year it was $3.50. And it's not only the prices of the food that have changed, the quality of the food felt like it was horrible on purpose, like the chefs had just given up. When I went to buy one of those mexican street tacos, they gave me one that had been sitting out on the counter uncovered for some time. Therefore, the sour cream tasted spoiled and rancid, the beans were drippy and soggy, and vegetables were tasteless. When I ordered the lemonade, they put way too much salt in it and shook the mix for too little, so it just tasted like salt water. The worst part though has to be that somehow the fair approved a gyro vendor to open-grill in front of the flyer ride. For years, the flyer ride has been that one ride that strongly reeks of motor oil, and by allowing the gyro vendor to open grill in front of it and spread his meaty aroma, they are creating a recipe for disaster. Combining the two smells, while simultaneously being on a fast paced ride in the sky does not do too well on your stomach. I saw many many folks coming off the ride today holding their stomachs and saying that they needed to puke. Like what is this? Expensive, low quality food and lack of basic critical thinking and organization? Come on, do better.

Has anyone else noticed that the Shaws on Shelburne Road in South Burlington never has any shopping baskets? It’s not like they don’t have enough. They don’t have any. And they haven’t had any in at least a year. It’s a pretty easy problem to solve so maybe it’s a choice? Idk but I’m curious

Hello! I'm a college student in Burlington and a long-time fan of Thomas & Friends. Unfortunately, none of my go-to stores have anything Thomas. The toy shop in the UMall has a handful of the Motorized engines, but nothing else; Target and the Walmart in Williston are bone dry. Does anyone know where I could find the new stuff, preferably places I can get to by bus? Thanks!

Anberlin is coming through to Higher Ground on the 30th with Taken Alive as local support. They haven't been to VT since 2010. I'd love to see a good turnout for this and show Higher Ground that booking real bands is worth the risk.
